Congratulations to Michaela & Graham Wright, who celebrated their beautiful wedding this past Saturday at Settles Hill Banquet & Events in Altamont!
If you remember Mickey and Graham’s engagement session, you may already have an idea of what their wedding theme was going to be — a magical combination of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. And let me tell you, they absolutely brought their vision to life! Every little detail felt like it belonged somewhere in Middle-earth.
The day itself could not have been more perfect. The sun was shining, with just enough scattered clouds to give us some beautiful shade for photos, and a slight breeze kept the temperatures comfortable. It was one of those wedding days where everything just seemed to fall into place.
Before seeing Graham, Mickey chose to have a first look with two very important men in her life — her dad, Jay, and her brother, Jasen.
These three together are hysterical. The combination of sarcastic, dry humor mixed with the obvious love and affection they have for one another just makes you smile being around them. Their completely fake, Home Alone style, hands on the cheeks gasps had me genuinely laughing out loud. But underneath all the joking was such a sweet moment between a daughter, her dad, and her brother.
Then it was time for Mickey and Graham’s first look.
The second they saw each other, you could almost physically see all of the nervousness and tension disappear. There was an immediate sense of, “Okay, you’re here. Now everything is good.”
Graham has such a calming presence about him. He’s a chill, low-key kind of guy who gives you the impression that he’s basically a giant teddy bear. But at the same time, there’s this quiet, protective quality about him. You get the feeling that when it comes to Mickey and their family, there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them.
And then there were the children.
Oh. My. Goodness.
They were SO adorable and had approximately 700% more energy than I could ever dream of having. They kept us laughing, kept us moving, and added so much personality to the day. Watching Mickey and Graham with them made it easy to see that this wedding wasn’t simply about two people getting married — it was about celebrating this beautiful family.
The ceremony location at Settles Hill is absolutely beautiful. The arbor, surrounded by florals and greenery, creates such a peaceful setting for a wedding ceremony. And, of course, Mickey and Graham added their own personal touches to make it completely theirs.
No detail was left untouched!
Guests were welcomed with an adorable storybook sign along with their very own Hobbiton Post — a Hobbit-inspired wedding newspaper created especially for their day. Seriously, how creative is that?! Guests loved it! They were reading it while waiting for the ceremony to begin, and I was still seeing people picking it up and reading it during cocktail hour. Such a fun and unique idea that fit their theme perfectly.
Then it was time for the processional…
Their son led the groomsmen down the aisle as the “reindeer.”
Yes. Reindeer.
His sister made it VERY clear that he was not the ring bearer. He was the reindeer.
And really… who was going to argue with her?!
Their daughter then led the ladies down the aisle before it was finally time for Mickey and her dad.
As Michaela walked down the aisle, she held onto her dad’s pinky.
It was such a tiny little detail, but it immediately caught my attention and honestly hit me right in the heart. When I was little, I used to hold onto my own dad’s pinky the exact same way. Sometimes it’s those small, seemingly insignificant moments that end up meaning the most.
Their ceremony opened with a beautiful poem, followed by heartfelt words and vows, and before we knew it…
Mickey and Graham were officially husband and wife!
From there, it was time to celebrate!
Guests spent the evening laughing, celebrating, and dancing the night away to music spun by DJ Kyle Albano.
Mickey and Graham, thank you for allowing me to be there to capture such an incredible chapter in your story. Your wedding was beautiful, sentimental, creative, and completely you — exactly the way a wedding should be.
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Wright!
May your greatest adventure be the one you’re beginning together.
