Together Again: An Extended Family Photography Session

There’s something extra special about photographing families that I already have a connection with, and this sweet family is part of our hockey community. Matt even coached one of my boys for a season, so I was excited to have the opportunity to get his family in front of my camera!

This wasn’t just a regular family session, either. Their extended family was in town, making it the perfect opportunity to get everyone together and capture some photos while they were all in the same place.

I absolutely love extended family sessions for this reason. Life gets busy, kids grow up, families spread out, and it isn’t always easy to get everyone together at the same time. Having the parents and grandparents there made these photos even more meaningful. We were able to capture the entire family together, along with the individual families, the kids, and of course some special photos with Grandma and Grandpa.

These are the kinds of photographs that only become more valuable as the years go by. The big group photo is wonderful, but it’s those images of grandparents surrounded by their children and grandchildren that really tell the story of a family.

I’m so glad the timing worked out while everyone was in town and that I was able to capture this season of life for them. I hope these photographs are ones their family will look back on and treasure for many years to come.
