Christmas Goes Country | A Western-Themed Family Session
There’s something extra fun about a family that doesn’t take their annual Christmas photos too seriously — and this crew definitely knows how to have a good time!
This group of cousins and siblings has made a tradition out of planning a themed photoshoot every year, so when they reached out and asked me to photograph this year’s session, I was so excited to be part of it.
This year’s theme? Old Western.
As soon as I heard their idea, I immediately thought of Maple Estates in Schoharie. Between the beautiful grounds, rustic old barn, historic house, and gorgeous natural colors, I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for the western-inspired outfits they had planned.
And I was right!
From the moment we started, this session was so much fun. Their outfits looked incredible against the rustic setting, but what I loved most was capturing the personalities and relationships within this family. There was plenty of laughter, a little bit of attitude for those Old West portraits, and so many moments that showed just how much fun this group has together.
Traditions like this are such a great reminder that family photos don’t always have to be perfectly posed or traditional. They can be creative, a little silly, completely unique, and most importantly — they can feel like you.
Thank you so much to the Stubbs family and extended family for trusting me to capture this year’s tradition. I had an amazing time with all of you, and I absolutely love the photos we created together.
Now the only question is… what are you going to come up with for next year?!
