Ok Friends. Let’s chat for a minute about your getting ready space for your wedding day. I know you want gorgeous getting ready photos as these are the photos that will start out your wedding album. These are the photos that will set the stage for the rest of your wedding day photos that will follow.
One of the elements to your getting ready space that is super important is as simple as a window. With just a window in the room that you’re getting ready in, I can create gorgeous natural light photos which will be soft and bright, even if it’s cloudy out! Not only that, there’s just so many photo options that I can do with a window; from the bride putting on her earrings with her face turned slightly towards the window (this creates perfect lighting for her face), a dramatic silhouette of the bride looking out the window, the bride’s mom helping her into her dress near the window…. all of these situations look so much better with that window effect!
I realize that sometimes you cannot control the space that you have to get ready in, so if you do not happen to have a window in that area, have no fear! I will take you to an area onsite that will have a window to get that beautiful look that I know that you want. Or, as was the case in one of locations photographed below with the huge vaulted windows, I kicked the guys out of their getting ready area to steal the room for the bride! But seriously, look at those big gorgeous windows! Those were made for a bride! Have no fear, if you are windowless, I will hunt down the perfect lighting!
Also (eh hem, grooms, and bridesmaids – I’m looking at you) please try and keep the clutter out of at least one corner of the room!! I know when you’re getting ready for a wedding things are everywhere, things get misplaced, wrapping paper, bags, tissues, bottles, cans, make-up, bras, food wrappers, etc…. everything ends up everywhere! I do understand, I truly do. However. The bride does not want all of that in the background of her gorgeous wedding photos. All I am asking is for one corner to kept clean so that I have some space to work with when I get there, by that window!
