Kim and Cody’s beautiful fall wedding at The Lodge at Echo Lake was surrounded by everything you could hope for in an Adirondack wedding—gorgeous fall colors, a peaceful lakeside setting, and so many sweet moments throughout the day.

Instead of a traditional first look, Kim and Cody chose to have a first touch before their ceremony. They wanted to save that special moment of seeing each other for the first time as Kim walked down the aisle, while still having a few quiet minutes together beforehand.

Standing around the corner of a building so they couldn’t see one another, Kim and Cody held hands and privately read their vows to each other. It was such a sweet and emotional moment.

I love when couples choose to do a first touch. Wedding days can move so quickly, and there really aren’t many opportunities for the bride and groom to simply be together without guests, family members, or the wedding party surrounding them. Taking those few quiet minutes before the ceremony gives them a chance to connect, calm some of those pre-ceremony nerves, and really take in what is about to happen.

Their outdoor ceremony took place overlooking Echo Lake, and Mother Nature certainly showed off for them. The trees surrounding the lake were filled with beautiful fall colors, creating the perfect backdrop as Kim and Cody exchanged their vows.

And, as seemed to be the theme for so many weddings that year, rain threatened us throughout the day! Thankfully, it held off when it mattered most, and Kim and Cody were able to have the outdoor lakeside ceremony they had planned.

After the ceremony, we took advantage of the beautiful grounds, the lake, and all of that gorgeous fall color for their portraits before heading inside to celebrate.
