Sometimes Mother Nature has other plans — and sometimes you just have to roll with them!

Welp. Even though it was raining, Kaylee felt like it was now or never for her maternity session. Baby wasn’t going to wait for the perfect weather, after all! So, we changed our original plans from the Schenectady Rose Garden and headed to Halfmoon Town Park, where the gazebo gave us the perfect covered spot to keep shooting while the rain came down around us.

And honestly? The rain ended up adding something really sweet to the session.

Kaylee looked absolutely radiant with her baby bump. Her neutral dress was beautiful against all of the fresh spring greens, and the soft light underneath the gazebo was perfect for capturing those quiet little moments between her and her husband as they waited for their newest addition.

Of course, this wasn’t just a maternity session. Their little girl joined us for some family photos too, and I loved being able to document their family of three right before they became a family of four. There is something so special about this stage — knowing that life is about to change in such a big way while wanting to hold onto exactly what your family looks like right now.

We even ventured out from underneath the gazebo for a few photos despite the rain. A little rain wasn’t going to stop us!

These are exactly the kinds of sessions that remind me why photographs matter so much. The weather may not have been what we originally envisioned, but years from now, that won’t be the part that matters. What will matter is having photographs of Kaylee carrying her baby, their daughter still little enough to be scooped up into their arms, and the excitement of a family waiting to meet their newest member.

Sometimes Plan B turns out pretty beautiful after all.
