Waterfall Senior Photos in Upstate NY | Olivia’s Senior Session

Every once in a while, a location comes along that makes me stop and think, we absolutely have to take photos here.

Olivia’s senior session was definitely one of those times!

When Olivia’s mom and I started talking about locations for her senior photos, she mentioned that they had a friend with private property featuring a waterfall. As soon as I heard “waterfall,” I was intrigued—and when I saw the property, I knew we had found the perfect location.

The scenery was absolutely beautiful and gave us such a unique backdrop for Olivia’s senior portraits.

One of my favorite things about photographing senior sessions is finding locations that help make each gallery feel a little different.

For Olivia, having access to this private property gave us the opportunity to create senior photos surrounded by nature, with the waterfall adding something especially beautiful to the session.

I am so thankful the property owners allowed us to use their land!

The combination of the water, rocks, trees, and natural scenery gave us so much variety to work with. Instead of having every portrait look the same, we were able to move around the property and create a collection of images with several different backgrounds while still keeping the entire gallery cohesive.

Creating Senior Photos That Feel Like You

One of the things I love most about senior sessions is that they don’t have to follow a specific formula.

Your senior photos should feel like you.

Some seniors want an urban setting with architecture and city streets. Others love fields, flowers, mountains, water, or the beautiful fall colors we get here in Upstate New York.

And sometimes, the perfect location is somewhere completely unexpected—like a friend’s property with an incredible waterfall!

That’s why I always love talking about location ideas before a senior session. If you have access to a meaningful property, a favorite place, or even somewhere you’ve driven past a hundred times and thought would be beautiful for photos, tell me about it.

Sometimes those locations end up being my absolute favorites.

Celebrating Olivia’s Senior Year

Senior year is such an exciting milestone.

It’s the end of one chapter and the beginning of so many new experiences, which is exactly why I love being able to document it.

Olivia absolutely rocked her session, and this beautiful setting couldn’t have been more perfect for her senior portraits. I’m so happy we were able to take advantage of this incredible property and create something a little different for her.
