Elegant Syracuse NY Wedding | Rebecca + Rudy

Oh my gosh, what an incredible wedding day!

Rebecca and Rudy’s Syracuse, NY wedding was elegant, beautiful, emotional—and absolutely FREEZING!

But honestly, the cold didn’t seem to matter. These two were surrounded by their family and friends, completely in love, and ready to celebrate becoming husband and wife.

I had been looking forward to their wedding all year, and it ended up being everything I hoped it would be.

From Their Engagement Session to Their Wedding Day

I first really got to know Rebecca and Rudy during their engagement session at Moreau Lake State Park.

As you remember, they completely rocked that session!

More importantly, spending that time together gave me the chance to see what these two are like as a couple. Rebecca and Rudy are incredibly down-to-earth, they love to laugh together, and their connection is so natural.

And the way they look at each other?

Seriously.

It’s one of those little things you notice immediately when you’re photographing them. There is so much love between these two, and it comes through beautifully in their photographs.

That’s one of the reasons I love engagement sessions so much. By the time I arrive on the wedding day, we’ve already spent time together. My couples know how I work, they’re more comfortable in front of my camera, and I’m a familiar face walking through the door instead of a stranger.

A Syracuse NY Church Wedding

Rebecca and Rudy exchanged their vows during a beautiful ceremony at St. Matthew’s Church in Syracuse, NY.

There is something I love about photographing traditional church weddings. The architecture, the ceremony, and the feeling of everyone gathering together to witness two people become husband and wife creates such a timeless part of the wedding day.

Surrounded by the people who love them most, Rebecca and Rudy officially became Mr. and Mrs.

And then it was time to celebrate!

A Reception Overlooking Oneida Lake

Following their ceremony, everyone headed to Lakeshore Yacht & Country Club for an elegant wedding reception.

One of the highlights of this venue is its incredible location overlooking Oneida Lake.

Even on a chilly November day, the waterfront scenery was beautiful and gave us such a gorgeous setting for Rebecca and Rudy’s wedding portraits.

And yes—it was COLD.

Really cold.

But you’d never know it from looking at these two!

Rebecca and Rudy handled the freezing temperatures like pros, and I’m so glad they were willing to brave the cold because we were able to create some beautiful outdoor portraits before heading back inside to warm up and celebrate.

An Elegant November Wedding in Syracuse

November weddings in Upstate New York can be unpredictable.

You might get a surprisingly warm fall afternoon—or you might get temperatures that remind you winter is right around the corner.

Rebecca and Rudy definitely got the second option!

But that’s one of the things I’ve learned after photographing weddings throughout Upstate and Central New York: we work with whatever Mother Nature gives us.

Sometimes that means changing portrait locations, grabbing umbrellas, working quickly in freezing temperatures, or stepping outside for just a few minutes at a time.

The weather doesn’t have to be perfect for your photographs to be beautiful.

And Rebecca and Rudy’s wedding was proof of that.

Celebrating Rebecca + Rudy

Once everyone was back inside Lakeshore Yacht & Country Club, Rebecca and Rudy were able to relax, warm up, and celebrate with their family and friends.

The elegant reception was the perfect ending to their day.

From their beautiful church ceremony to their portraits overlooking Oneida Lake and all of the laughter and emotion in between, Rebecca and Rudy’s wedding was such a joy to photograph.

These two are simply the kind of people you love being around.
