Schoharie NY Engagement Session | Samantha + Stephen
I loved getting to know Samantha and Stephen during their engagement session in beautiful Schoharie, NY. We spent the afternoon exploring two different locations—Fox Creek Bridge and The Maples Estate—which gave us such a great variety of scenery for their engagement photos.
One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is having the opportunity to spend time with my couples before their wedding day. It gives us a chance to get comfortable with one another, have some fun, and take away some of those nerves that naturally come with being in front of the camera.
Samantha and Stephen didn’t make me work very hard in that department, though! They were incredibly relaxed and easygoing from the beginning.
Engagement Photos at Fox Creek Bridge
We started their session around Fox Creek Bridge in Schoharie, taking advantage of the beautiful scenery and historic character of the area.
Schoharie is one of those places that offers so many gorgeous locations for engagement photography. The combination of open landscapes, historic structures, rustic textures, and mountain views makes it especially beautiful during the fall.
Samantha and Stephen were completely comfortable just being themselves together, which made it easy to capture photographs that felt natural rather than overly posed.
Those little in-between moments—the laughs, the looks at each other, and the moments when they almost forget I’m standing there with a camera—are always some of my favorites.
The Maples Estate Engagement Photos
From Fox Creek Bridge, we continued their engagement session at The Maples Estate in Schoharie.
Having two locations gave us the opportunity to create two different looks while still keeping the entire session cohesive. We walked around, explored the property, and captured a combination of traditional portraits and more candid moments between the two of them.
And these two made it so easy.
They were sweet, relaxed, and genuinely happy together. By the end of their session, I felt like I had gotten such a great glimpse into who they were as a couple—which made me even more excited to photograph their wedding.
From Engagement Photos to Wedding Day
One of the best parts about photographing an engagement session is knowing that this is just the beginning.
Samantha and Stephen’s engagement session gave us the chance to get to know each other without the timeline and excitement of a wedding day happening around us. When their wedding arrived, they already knew how I worked and what to expect when I picked up my camera.
That’s exactly why I recommend engagement sessions whenever possible.
Samantha and Stephen, I loved spending this beautiful Schoharie afternoon with you two and capturing this part of your story!
