Maria and Michael’s wedding took place on Michael’s family farm in Poestenkill, NY. It could not have been more perfect. When you think of a at home, “backyard wedding” you probably think of a low-key, dressed down type of event. But that couldn’t be further from reality. An at home wedding is just as beautiful and decorated as a wedding at a venue, plus you have the time to decorate as you want, and to ensure that everything is perfect without having to rely on someone else. Not only that, your guests can stay as long as they want and enjoy the company of family and friends mingling and dancing the night away.
You never would have guessed that this wedding was a “backyard wedding”. This event compared to a country venue. Complete with a beautiful tent, gorgeous tables, cocktail tables that were decorated so beautifully. Silver platters of food that was so delicious, and all the while surrounded by so much love of their family and history of this gorgeous farm.
My day with Maria started in the house where Michael’s grandmother was showing me photos and memories of her late husband, Michael’s grandfather, who sadly passed away late last year. The family was emotional, not only for the wedding, but also because of the recent losses this family suffered. The wedding was a day of celebration and remembrance of the loved ones who recently passed. The room had some hockey memorabilia so of course I instantly felt such a connection to this family! Michael’s grandmother also loved hearing that I am part of the hockey family and said that it was meant to be that I was her grandson’s photographer and brought me out to meet other hockey families that were in attendance at the wedding. I just loved her, she was truly such a sweet woman.
Michael’s grandfather taught him how to drive the tractor, so he honored his grandfather by showcasing the tractor and displayed the heaven sign. It was a sweet way to honor his grandfather and all the love that he had towards him was very evident.
Maria and Michael’s ceremony overlooked the mountains, and they were married in front of a beautiful garden arbor.
Guests danced the night way under the tent and in the open sky in the most peaceful and beautiful setting you can imagine.
Maria and Michael, you are truly blessed with so much love of your family, and I was so honored to be there to celebrate with you and capture your wedding day. I wish you both nothing but the best! xoxo
