Hindu Wedding at The Mansion at Cedar Hill | Selkirk NY | Navita + Jeremy
After two incredible days of celebrations, Navita and Jeremy’s wedding day had finally arrived—and it was absolutely breathtaking.
From Navita’s stunning attire to the elaborate florals and decor, every detail of their wedding at The Mansion at Cedar Hill in Selkirk, NY was beautiful. But what I loved most about this day was getting to experience all of the traditions, emotions, laughter, and family moments that made their wedding uniquely theirs.
After photographing their Mehndi and Haldi ceremonies, I couldn’t wait to see everything come together for their wedding day.
A Wedding at The Mansion at Cedar Hill
Navita and Jeremy chose The Mansion at Cedar Hill in Selkirk, NY for their wedding ceremony and celebration.
The historic mansion and surrounding property created such a beautiful setting for their day. With its elegant architecture, sprawling grounds, and rich history, there were so many gorgeous locations for wedding portraits throughout the property.
But even with such a beautiful venue, it was hard for anything to compete with Navita’s entrance.
Her family announced her arrival with horns and beautifully adorned cars. When Navita stepped out, she was absolutely breathtaking. Between her incredible wedding attire, jewelry, and all of the beautiful details, it truly felt like a royal entrance.
A Private First Look and Vow Reading
Before their ceremony, Navita and Jeremy shared a private first look and vow reading.
During one of our conversations leading up to the wedding, I had suggested that they consider reading their vows privately before the ceremony. A wedding day moves incredibly quickly, and I loved the idea of giving them a few quiet minutes together where they could say everything they wanted to say without hundreds of people watching.
I’m so glad they decided to do it.
It gave them a chance to slow down, take each other in, and let some of those emotions out before joining their family and friends for the ceremony.
These quiet moments often become some of my favorite photographs from a wedding day.
A Beautiful Hindu Wedding Ceremony
This was my first opportunity to photograph such an elaborate Hindu wedding ceremony, and it was absolutely incredible.
The ceremony lasted approximately two hours, but with so many meaningful traditions and rituals taking place, the time seemed to fly by. There was always something happening, and I loved being able to document each part of the ceremony along with the reactions of Navita and Jeremy’s families.
One of the funniest moments involved Navita’s sister, Javita, who managed to steal Jeremy’s shoes!
As part of the tradition, she later negotiated with Jeremy to get them back, and the exchange had everyone laughing. Moments like that are exactly why I love photographing weddings—the beautiful traditions are important, but so are the laughter, expressions, and completely unscripted moments happening around them.
Blending Hindu and Jewish Wedding Traditions
One of the things that made Navita and Jeremy’s wedding especially meaningful was the way they incorporated traditions representing both of them.
Their celebration was filled with beautiful Hindu wedding customs, while Jeremy also incorporated his Jewish heritage into the ceremony.
At the conclusion, Jeremy participated in the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass—a meaningful way to bring another part of their families and backgrounds into their wedding celebration.
I loved watching two families, cultures, and sets of traditions come together throughout their wedding weekend.
Celebrating at The Mansion at Cedar Hill
Following the ceremony, Navita and Jeremy changed their attire and joined their guests for the reception.
After three days of celebrations, it was finally time to PARTY!
DJ Savan from Blaze Entertainment kept the celebration going, and the energy from their family and friends was incredible.
There was so much love surrounding these two throughout the entire weekend, and getting to document everything from their Mehndi and Haldi ceremonies through their wedding day gave me the opportunity to tell so much more of their story than I could have captured in a single day.
A huge thank you also goes to Linda from Your Day Your Way, who worked behind the scenes to bring all of the details together, as well as the incredible team of vendors who helped make Navita and Jeremy’s wedding celebration possible.
Navita and Jeremy, thank you for trusting me to document such an important and beautiful celebration. It was an honor to photograph your families, traditions, and all of the moments that made these three days so special.
Congratulations to you both!
