Lisa + Troy
Lisa and Troy had the most beautiful intimate fall wedding overlooking Lyons Lake in Nassau, New York. Surrounded by their closest family members and the gorgeous fall colors, they pledged their love to one another with the lake as their backdrop.
Their wedding day began with a first look by the water, and the scenery could not have been more perfect. The fall colors surrounding Lyons Lake were absolutely stunning! Troy’s reaction when he saw Lisa was so sweet as he tried his best to keep his emotions in check.
After their first look, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and photographed their portraits before the ceremony. With the lake, colorful trees, and mountains of fall foliage behind them, there was no shortage of beautiful places for photos.
Once we finished their portraits, their family joined them for their private ceremony overlooking the lake. Lisa and Troy exchanged vows and officially became husband and wife surrounded by the people closest to them.
And then, almost as if the weather had been waiting for them to say “I do,” the wind picked up and the rain began to fall!
Thankfully, it started lightly enough that we were able to sneak under the trees and finish their immediate family portraits. As the rain became heavier, everyone headed to the pavilion, where guests enjoyed lunch, relaxed, and spent time together celebrating the newlyweds.
But there is one thing I absolutely love about photographing in the rain — the colors!
Rain has a way of making fall foliage look even richer and more vibrant, and Lisa and Troy were such troopers when I asked them to head back outside with an umbrella for just a few more photos.
I am SO glad they trusted me.
The combination of the rain, the umbrella, the lake, and those incredible fall colors created one of my favorite images yet. Sometimes the weather you weren’t hoping for ends up creating the photograph you never could have planned.
Lisa and Troy, thank you for allowing me to be part of such a beautiful and intimate celebration. Congratulations to you both!
