What an absolutely perfect wedding to kick off the 2024 wedding season.
McLayne and Christopher lucked out with a beautiful sunny and warm spring day for their May wedding. The sun is hard to come by lately in upstate NY. In fact the week leading up to their wedding, I stalked the forecast because it called for on and off rain for their wedding day. But by some miracle, the day before their wedding, the forecast changed and only called for clouds. Even with that, the sun still shone beautifully all day, warming up the air in time for their ceremony. Too add to the perfection, right before it was time for portraits, that’s when the light cloud cover came in, allowing me to get the dreamy, glowy photos that I love to capture.
Leading up to the wedding, during our wedding walkthrough conversation one thing was apparent. She was so nervous that her sister was not going to be able to make her wedding. McLayne’s sister was VERY pregnant and due within a few weeks of the wedding date (doesn’t she look the cutest with her baby belly?!). Thankfully the baby decided to not arrive early and she was able to stand next to her sister for her wedding. And not only was McLayne’s sister pregnant, but one of her other bridesmaids was ALSO very pregnant! Thankfully, no baby made an appearance!
McLayne’s wedding celebration began with a first look with her brothers. They were so sweet, and her oldest brother was struggling to keep his emotions in check. Seeing how close they are was just the best.
Chris was a bundle of nerves waiting for his bride at the alter, but as soon as he saw his bride, his smile was so big. They were married by Chris’ pastor who drove a few hours for the ceremony!! The ceremony was beautiful with the perfect amount of humor thrown in.
The mother-daughter dance and mother-son dance both brought tears to my eyes (AGAIN!). I am not sure if I will ever not cry at a wedding. Which is slightly crazy, I understand that. haha. I’m super emotional, and the parent dances just get me every single time.
Their family gave hilarious toasts, which had all the guests dying with laughter, and they spoke to the type of people both Chris and McLayne are, which is apparent to anyone who spends time with them. Even the short amount of time I had with them, I can tell that that they are caring, genuine and a calming presence. They spoke of McLayne’s planning and detail focused traits, which as I mentioned, was apparent with the planning of her wedding. And they spoke about the great match that they are together.
McLayne and Chris, I wish you all the best and many years of love, happiness and making amazing memories. xoxo
